2.   Reflect on your contributions and how you contributed to making your group a success?


To make our group a success, I participated in our group discussion, contributed my ideas on the different topics for each week, and asked for clarifications when I don't understand something. I encouraged and motivated my teammates with job well done by giving praises to individuals for their ideas and hard work. Working in group is not always easy because every individual is unique, we have to compromise in almost everything that we did. However, "more heads are better than one" so the advantage of working in a group is far more greater than its negative output. A big mahalo to all my group members.

Task_3-6 Reflection


 

 

Why is it important to use teams in PBL? 

PBL stands for Project Base Learning in which learning occurs with the application of modeled problems where students actively solve them. In the real world, people work together to get a project done, whether it be at work, in the community, or in a family, team work is essential. This very philosophy is used with PBL. Students have to learn to get things done in group just like people out there in the real world so that when they are sent out they'll function well. Team work also gets the job done faster and more effectively.

 

What are some of the problems you see in student teams? 

Because everyone is unique, everyone have different thoughts and ways of doing things, working in team is not always easy. Some students my not share ideas, others may have problem communicating, while others will dominate the group and want to do everything their way, and some complain that they do everything, and others make excuses for not doing their role. 

What strategies can you use to manage conflict in student teams? 

First of all, there has to be a leader or a facilitator to supervise the team. The facilitator is in charge of assigning roles to team members, checking that everyone is on task, and praising and providing constructive criticism to team members. If the group is not cooperating together, the facilitator will have to intervene and give strict comments on how to go about.

Did the group have any questions or problems this week?

The group didn't have any question this week. We were just reaffirming what is supposed to be done.
